Cheap status check, safe to poll
Returns just enough to know whether a payment has landed. Built for polling while a customer is at the provider’s checkout — poll this, not the detail endpoint.
It reads from the database and only asks the provider when the transaction is still open and has not been synced for a while, so polling it every few seconds costs nothing. lastSyncedAt tells you when the provider was last consulted; canSync tells you whether the next call might.
Webhooks are how a payment normally reaches us — this endpoint is the safety net for a delivery that never arrived, not the primary path.
